Yukimarimo

A few days ago we witnessed the interesting snow phenomenon yukimarimo. These peculiar frost balls are only observed every two or three years at the pole. Because of their extreme low density, they are blown across the continent by winds, as seen in the video.

Dustin - Lvl 2 Moth

The big news from this week is that we found a live moth in the science lab. It probably came down as an egg on the last shipment of fresh fruit/veggies that we received. Considering that was a month ago when the last plane left, it is quite remarkable to find one still alive. Because this is the first form of wildlife we have seen since arriving at the pole, the moth was named Dustin and put on display in the galley.

The other big news is that we got 11 people (> 25% of the station population) to play Dungeons and Dragons. What began as a small group quickly ballooned as additional people wanted to try, so many that we will have to split into two groups. I'm not sure what this says about the state of boredom us polies have started experiencing.
